Welcome to our Information Page.  Following you will find a list of Books and Magazines to further help you in your interest of Mineral Collecting.  Although not complete by any means, it will give you starting point with readily available material.  If you have any questions on mineral collecting in general and you are not inclined to pour through volumes of reading material, please send me your questions below and I will try to answer them.

 

BOOKS

Mineral Collectors Handbook - Barry Krause
This is an excellent reference book on collecting, mineral classes, species, and beginning geology with many color pictures.

National Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Rock and Minerals
The ultimate reference book for North American minerals.  Hundreds of color pictures and very detailed information on mineral classes, species, structure and composition.

Field Collecting Gemstones and Minerals
John Sinkankas
This book was written by the most acknowledged expert in the field of minerals.  A complete book on the what to, how to, where to, and why to of mineral collecting, preparation and displaying.  A must have!

MAGAZINES

The Mineralogical Record 
The most important source of mineral information, collecting areas and pictures. This magazine is taken by every serious collector and never thrown away. Every issue is a reference guide and you will pay $10 and up for all back issues available from the publisher and more from collectors.

Rocks and Minerals
Another great magazine for mineral collectors featuring wonderful pictures, articles and reference material.

Rock and Gem
This magazine is filled with all aspects of the rock hounding, collecting and general lapidary arts.  Inexpensive and very informative and entertaining.
